Subject: Okains Bay water supply
Kia ora Reagan,
Thank you for agreeing to share this update with the community.
As discussed yesterday, a contractor is currently undertaking work to investigate whether a bore could be a suitable water source for the Council-supplied water at Okains Bay. The investigation is exploring both bore and surface water options to determine the most appropriate solution.
We acknowledge that progress on this project has been slower than hoped, but work is now actively underway, and we are moving toward a resolution. Going forward we will provide regular updates as more information becomes available.
Please feel free to pass on any questions from the community, I’m happy to direct them to the project team.
Regarding the existing private supply, it is not anticipated that the new supply will have any impact on it.
Once we have further details, I will arrange a time for myself and members of the project team to meet with the community to discuss the project in more depth.
Thank you all for your patience as we work through this process.
Ngā mihi
